Blockhead Riding Rhino 16"x20" Acrylic on Canvas

This composition began in Bolivia, where on a long journey I was sketching down some different faces. Later, upon arrival to the United States, I began to fancy this blockhead as my favorite sketch. As the painting came along, he wound up on a rhino that came from a "how to paint a rhino" tutorial. The background is inspired by my vist to East Africa, where I saw Baobab trees for the first time. These trees in particular would best represent Avenue of the Baobabs in Madagasgar, as it is one of the few places with so many of these beautiful trees in such close proximity.
